The entry

Aleppo sat where Mediterranean olive groves met the overland caravan routes, and its soapmakers stacked the cut bars in open towers to cure for months before export. The Syrian war scattered the trade, and much soap sold under the name is now made by Aleppan families working in Turkey and France.
