The entry

Spanish attaches the suffix ista to a club or city name to make a supporter word, giving madridista and barcelonista. The club was founded in 1902 as Madrid Football Club and added Real in 1920, when Alfonso XIII granted royal patronage, so the fan word keeps the purely geographic form. English borrowed it along with Spanish football coverage.
