Ōmi

The type locality no longer exists as a place name: the town was folded into a neighboring city in 2005.

Mitsuo Komatsu, Kohei Chihara and Takamitsu Mizota described ohmilite in 1973 from Ōmi in Niigata Prefecture, where it occurs in an amphibolite and albitite dike cutting serpentinite. Ōmi was a town in Nishikubiki District until it was absorbed into Itoigawa in 2005. The same stretch of coast is the source of Japan's jade.
