Kasolo

It comes from the mine that supplied most of the uranium for the first atomic bombs.

Alfred Schoep described kasolite in Comptes Rendus in 1921 as a new radioactive mineral from the Kasolo workings in Katanga. The site became better known as the Shinkolobwe mine, whose exceptionally rich pitchblende was shipped to the United States for the Manhattan Project. The type specimen is at the Natural History Museum in Paris, catalogued 121.287.
