Hamburg

The sandwich is American. The name still points to Hamburg.

Hamburger began as Hamburg steak, chopped beef associated with the German port. The bun sandwich is a later American form; the city name stuck to the meat.

The parsley you eat from the bottom, named for the port that shipped the seed.

English gardeners took the plant up in the eighteenth century and named it for Hamburg, the northern German port through which German seed and produce reached them. It is the same species as the leaf parsley on your plate, simply selected for the root instead.
