bicchulitenoun · 1973
Well attestedIt was described simultaneously from a Japanese limestone skarn and a basalt contact in County Antrim.
C. Henmi, I. Kusachi, K. Henmi, P. A. Sabine and B. R. Young published bicchulite in 1973 from the Fuka mine in the old town of Bitchu, Okayama Prefecture, with a parallel occurrence at Carneal in Northern Ireland. The name uses Bicchu, the historical reading of the province and town name. Its aluminum to silicon ratio is unusual enough that the structure resisted solution until Sahl and Chatterjee refined it in 1977.
