ominelite
Yoshikuni Hiroi, Edward Grew and a large team described ominelite in 2002 from a porphyritic Miocene granite exposed along the Misen River at Tenkawa in Yoshino, Nara Prefecture, in the Ōmine Mountains. It was the first natural iron dominant counterpart of grandidierite, a mineral otherwise known mainly from Madagascar. A second occurrence later turned up in the Bohemian Massif.
