Diabloer
David Brevik, who created Diablo at Blizzard North, lived near Mount Diablo in Contra Costa County and took both the game's title and its chief villain from it. The peak's name comes from a Spanish military episode of 1805 at a nearby willow thicket called Monte del Diablo; English speakers later read monte as mountain and moved the name up to the summit. Diabloer appears in Usenet gaming groups from 1997, the year the first game shipped.
