Two new fatty acids were named after the two cities whose labs worked them out.

Wuhanic acid and its partner nebraskanic acid were reported in Nature Plants in 2018 by a team from Huazhong Agricultural University in Wuhan and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. They are built by an enzyme route not previously seen in plants, and the oil that contains them performs better in lubricant tests than castor oil, the current plant-based standard. Chemists have named compounds after places of discovery for two centuries; this is one of the newest cases.
