Sharon plain

Not a woman's name: the Sharon is a coastal plain in Israel.

Growers on the Sharon plain sold the Triumph persimmon under the region's name after developing a treatment that strips out the mouth-drying tannins. The fruit can therefore be eaten crisp like an apple, unlike persimmons that must go soft before they are palatable.
