There is a Rauenthal in Germany famous for Riesling; this is not it.

Rauenthalite was described in 1964 from the Gabe Gottes mine at Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines in Haut-Rhin, on the Rauenthal vein system that runs under the town. The Alsatian silver district was worked from the Middle Ages and is now best known for its annual mineral show. The name points at the valley and vein system in Alsace, not at the Rheingau wine village of the same spelling.
