The original 1942 chemical formula was wrong, and it took thirty-five years to fix.

E. Iwase and N. Saito described johachidolite in 1942 from nepheline veins cutting limestone at Johachido in what is now North Hamgyong Province, North Korea, calling it a hydrous fluoborate of sodium, calcium and aluminum. Moore and Araki reported its dense structure in Nature in 1972, and Aristarain and Erd redefined it in 1977 as an anhydrous calcium aluminum borate. Gem-quality crystals later turned up at Mogok in Myanmar.
