Long Island

It contains no tea, and two different Long Islands claim it.

The common account credits a bartender at the Oak Beach Inn on New York's Long Island around 1972. A rival claim places it in the Prohibition-era community of Long Island, Tennessee, where a very different mixture involving maple syrup is said to have been poured.
