Well attestedThe mine behind the name also gave Japan its first Western style blast furnace.
Etsuo Uchida and Jun Iiyama described kamaishilite in 1981 from the Kamaishi mine in Iwate Prefecture, where it sits in vesuvianite skarn inside marble and appears to replace the vesuvianite. Kamaishi was worked for iron from the 1720s and housed Japan's first Western style blast furnace in the 1850s. Type material went to the National Science Museum in Tokyo.
