Hungary

Named for a programmer's birthplace, because the prefixed names looked foreign.

The convention comes from Charles Simonyi, a Hungarian-born engineer at Xerox PARC and later Microsoft, and colleagues joked that identifiers written this way looked like Hungarian. The name also fits in a second way, since Hungarian puts the family name first, as the notation puts the type first.
