Hoxton finnoun · 2000s
Well attestedA London district became shorthand for a haircut, and then for a whole social type.
Hoxton, in the East End of London, was the center of the city's art and club scene in the early 2000s, and the cut spread from there. British writers used Hoxton fin as a way of placing a young man socially without describing him at all. The area had been a furniture making district for a century before artists moved into its cheap warehouse space in the 1990s.
