America's juice-and-jelly grape was bred in one backyard in Massachusetts.

Ephraim Wales Bull selected it from wild fox grapes at his home in Concord, Massachusetts, and released it in the early 1850s. He earned almost nothing from it; his gravestone complains that other men reaped what he sowed.
