Chatkal Range

It hides as rounded specks inside grains of another mineral, so it can only be found under a microscope.

V. A. Kovalenker and colleagues described chatkalite in 1981 in Mineralogicheskii Zhurnal from the Kochbulak gold deposit in the Chatkal and Kurama mountains of Uzbekistan. It occurs as disseminated rounded inclusions in tetrahedrite within sulfide-bearing quartz veins. The Chatkal Range itself straddles the modern Uzbek and Kyrgyz border.
