Buckinghamshire

A Buckinghamshire hamlet gave its name to a bit and then lost control of the spelling.

The bit is said to have been first made at Kimblewick, a hamlet near Great and Little Kimble in Buckinghamshire. American makers usually spell it Kimberwicke or Kimberwick, which has cut the name loose from the place. Its curb action is mild because the shanks have a short purchase arm and no lower lever.
