Belfast had water to spare; London did not, and their sinks differ by one hole.

The Belfast pattern was made deep with an overflow, while the similar Butler sink used in water-short London was shallower and had none. Kitchen suppliers now use the two names almost interchangeably, so the distinction survives mainly among restorers.
